Fiador
A guarantor who signs your lease and usually owns property in the state.
The traditional Brazilian rental guarantor. Newcomers rarely have one locally. A fiador becomes legally responsible if you stop paying. Use a security deposit (caução) or rental guarantee insurance (seguro-fiança) instead. Guide: housing guarantees.
